From the Artistic Director

Dear Showboat Friends,
Happy Birthday!  75 years. The Showboat has been around for 75 years in some form or another.  After being built in the 1930’s serving as tug boat for hauling coal on the Ohio river then retiring in the 1960’s as a showboat in Virginia, Omar made her way to Clinton.
It has been a privilege to be aboard for the last 13 years and an honor to serve as the captain of the ship for the last two years.  Having been around for this stretch of time I have noticed some wear and tear on the old girl.  Leaking ceilings, falling smoke stacks, and rotting floor boards are just a few of the Boat’s recent needs.  Needless to say the girl is getting up in age and needs some work done. The city does their best to keep up on general maintenance on the boat but we need the help and support of the community to keep this icon of Clinton afloat.  Becoming a sponsor will help us keep the Boat safe, shiny, and full of shows for the next 75 years.  Please consider becoming a sponsor today.
We are celebrating the Boat’s birthday all season with fantastic musicals, a hilarious comedy, and a children’s show about the boat’s past.  This season has wonderful actors from all over the country and some local favorites as well.  You will see old favorites and see some that will become you favorites.  You do not want to miss one of our shows in this historic season.  This will be the season that caps off the first 75 years of the boat and starts the next.
Showboatingly,
Patrick Stinson
