Playing on the Clinton Showboat Theater stage are three one act plays under the title of “Death Defying Acts”.
The first act is titled “An Interview”. A sleazy attorney, by Rob Engelson, is trying to plea his case and not have to go through the door of no return. Joshua Sohn is the interviewer.
Rob does an amazing rendition and Joshua is the calm impressive interviewer.
Second act is “Hotline”. Joshua as Ken is spending his first night as a counselor of a suicide crisis hotline. Dr. Russell, by Rob, is Ken’s instructor. Marty, by Claire Barnhart, is a counselor too. Dorothy, by Kate Hennies, is a woman who is overly distraught with many issues. Ken gets her call and tries to talk her through her problems.
The third act is “Central Park West”. This has many twists in it’s story and a lot of action! A well to do psychiatrist, Phyllis, is portrayed by Anne Schneck. She has just discovered that her best friend, Carol, by Nicole Horton, is having an affair with her husband, Sam, by Rob Engelson. Phyllis has Carol over to confront her (but in a long way around, remember she is a psychiatrist). Phyllis finally comes directly to the point and things get hairy. Carol’s husband, Howard, by Dale Hawes, shows up and ads to the craziness. Then Sam shows up with his new girlfriend Juliet, by Claire Barnhart. How many times have Sam and Carol been unfaithful to their spouses. Come to the Clinton Area Showboat Theater and find out!
Patrick Stinson and Dale Hawes are the directors of these “Death Defying Acts”.
“Death Defying Acts” is playing through June 28th on the Clinton Area Showboat stage.
This has been Ellen Ketelsen for K R O S.
